''Duttaphrynus microtympanum'' (common names: southern hill toad, small-eared toad) is a species of toad found in the Western Ghats of India, possibly wider. ==Description== Head with prominent bony ridges, viz. a canthal, a pre-orbital, a supraorbital, a postorbital, and a short orbito-tympanic; snout short, blunt; interorbital space broader than the upper eyelid; tympanum very small, not half the diameter of eye, generally indistinct. First finger extending beyond second; toes about half webbed, with single subarticular tubercles; two moderate metatarsal tubercles ; no tarsal fold. The tarsometatarsal articulation reaches the eye, or between the eye and the tip of the snout. Upper surfaces with irregular, distinctly porous warts; parotoids prominent, elliptical, twice or twice and a half as long as broad. Brown above; yellow beneath, marbled with brown.
